Ever feel uncomfortable during a season of change? Don't worry, you aren't alone. One of the exercises to work through in these moments is The Becoming Quadrant framework.

The framework is simple: draw a vertical line and a horizontal line, creating four quadrants.

WITHDRAWALS

Where is your energy currently going? Think about the people, rooms, communities, responsibilities, roles and commitments that require something from you.

A withdrawal isn't necessarily negative. Leadership can be a withdrawal. Parenting can be a withdrawal. Teaching, mentoring, serving and caring for others all require something from us.

The question is whether you're aware of how much you're giving and whether it remains intentional and sustainable.

DEPOSITS

What puts something back into you? Think about the people, places, communities, experiences and practices that restore you, encourage you, challenge you, remind you who you are, or simply allow you to be present without being needed.

The goal isn't to eliminate withdrawals. It's to become aware of whether you're receiving enough deposits to sustain what you're choosing to give.

HONOR

What from your past deserves to be honored? Consider the people, experiences, businesses, communities, seasons, successes, failures, lessons and even the bruised knees that helped build the person you are today.

Honoring something doesn't mean you have to remain there, and by evolving it doesn't mean you are not honoring all of the moments, people, and opportunity that brought you to the current season.

EVOLVE

Who are you becoming? This isn't necessarily about goals, achievements or what you want to accomplish next. It's about how you want the next chapter of your life to LOOK AND FEEL.

The people you WANT IN YOUR CORNER as you evolve. What do you want more of? Less of? What are you curious about? What are you ready to become a beginner at and be messy with? What part of yourself is already emerging that you haven't fully acknowledged?

WHO + WHAT

Once you've explored all four quadrants, draw a circle around the point where they intersect.

Inside, write:

WHO + WHAT

Who and What do you need around you as you become the person you're evolving to? Who do you need to be in COMMUNITY with?

The Becoming Quadrant isn't about having all the answers. It's about becoming brave enough to ask the questions.
